The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
