Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield vehicle the community is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch built personally in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, players are getting the family's everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it remains an recognizable symbol of the series. And for players who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also get wheels featuring a television showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and concludes on November 17th.
