BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started resorting to personalized games made via the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how demanding these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Task

Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with sniper rifles

This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map at a push if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Bypass

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?

Potential Changes

It is expected if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.

For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in coming revisions.
